This library guide is to serve as basic tool to help you locate materials on Ancient Western Civilizations. A thorough research project entails a search of library's circulating book and reference collections, electronic encyclopedias and databases as well as Internet sites devoted to the history of the ancient world. The following resource is crafted as a "pathfinder" to assist you to effectively explore and exploit the wealth of information available on the history of ancient Western Civilizations. Search the library's web-based catalog, Webcat, for general or specific topics in Ancient History. The Library catalog includes all of the books and films that are in the building, including reference books. Specific reference books are recommended below.

These electronic indexes/databases will supply citations to journal articles, many times with accompanying abstracts (summaries) and actual full-text articles, that relate to your topic. For citations without full-text articles, check the library's Periodical Holdings to see if the library subscribes to this journal and has back issues. If the library does not have the desired journal in print or microform format, see the librarian so this article can be secured through an Interlibrary Loan.
